Each week in the context of the liturgy, we have Prayers of the People, a time when the parish's prayers are gathered together and presented to the Lord. These include prayers for our nation and its leaders, prayers for the needs of the world, prayers for missionaries, prayers for local ministries and other parishes, prayers for our parish and its leaders and prayers for specific needs in the lives of individuals.
When you attend Church of the Savior, you'll notice that during the Eucharist, prayer ministers stand along the sides of the sanctuary. They are available to pray for anyone in the congregation who would like prayer for healing, discernment, reconciliation, forgiveness or any special need.
We also have an intercessory prayer team, made up of people who have committed to praying for requests regularly for two weeks. Requests may be submitted to our Associate Rector (firstname.lastname@example.org) who will forward those to the prayer team.
At the end of our worship, we frequently pray for special needs with the laying on of hands--sending people out to specific missions or praying for urgent needs.
We may be called to prayer (and occasionally fasting) for specific and urgent needs within or outside our parish.
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. Luke 18:1
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
