Journeying together...loving God, loving others, loving life. |
Worship is at the very center of our life together. We hold to Kierkegaard’s description of worship as a drama in which each week is re-enacted the story of redemption. Those worshipping are the actors or players, the leaders prompt or support the congregation’s worship of God and he alone is the audience. With this understanding, we seek to worship God in spirit and in truth and we expect the Lord to manifest his Presence among us.
Believing that Jesus comes to us and offers his life to us at the Communion table, each week the Eucharist is celebrated. We are committed to preaching God’s Word in a way that lifts up Jesus and edifies the Body. We have an ensemble of preachers that includes our rector, Bill Richardson, our deacon, Linda Richardson, Brian Lewis and others from our congregation who are gifted in communicating the Scriptures. We are committed to liturgical worship from the Book of Common Prayer and our worship follows the church calendar. We observe the seasons of Advent and Lent as times of drawing near to the Lord in preparation for the feast days of Christmas and Easter. As a regular part of our worship, prayer ministers are available to pray for people. We pray for healing on a regular basis and partner together with other AMiA churches for a monthly healing service that is open to the public. Believing that God is infinitely creative, our worship is characterized by a diversity of musical language, including traditional and contemporary worship music. This is an area of growth for us as we seek to explore other musical styles, including chant, classical, and other contemporary expressions. |
